A professional boxer who began refereeing fights in the 1970’s, and went on to referee more than 170 world title fights around the globe, more than any current or past referee. He was inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame in 2000. He started the Richard Steele Boxing Club, open to at risk youth in the Las Vegas area.
